About RAMSA

Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) has spent more than five decades defining what timeless architecture looks like at the highest level. The New York–based firm brings a deep command of architectural tradition to bear through contemporary practice, from iconic residential towers like 220 Central Park South and 30 Park Place to campus buildings for the world's leading universities. Across typologies and geographies, the throughline is the same: an uncompromising commitment to craft, detail, and buildings that create value at every scale.

The Challenge

For RAMSA, design quality is non-negotiable. Every drawing, detail, and issuance reflects design expertise built over decades, and the firm holds that line on every project regardless of project size or type.

That level of rigor requires significant production effort. Tasks like renumbering sheets, managing family content, and enforcing standards across hundreds of drawings are fundamental to how RAMSA maintains consistency. But as the firm's portfolio has grown, so has the volume of that work, and with it, a clear opportunity to streamline the more repetitive tasks.

Finding the Right Fit

RAMSA wasn’t looking for a design tool. They were looking for a way to accelerate production work that underpins every project, without compromising standards.

The requirement was specific: handle repetitive, high-volume Revit tasks reliably across large drawing sets, while preserving the firm’s conventions for naming, content, and documentation standards.

SketchPro met that need by operating directly within those workflows, executing production tasks at scale while aligning to RAMSA’s existing way of working.

How SketchPro Helps across Projects

“In a traditional Revit workflow, managing and updating family content can be a frustrating and tedious process. SketchPro helps us execute repetitive manual tasks in one fell swoop. This will significantly expedite our efforts to provide consistent, high-quality Revit content for the firm”
Jessica Brams-Miller
Design Systems Lead at RAMSA

Across active projects, RAMSA applies SketchPro to the workflows that carry the most production volume and the highest quality requirements.

  • Documentation from SD through CDs: On recent projects, RAMSA used SketchPro directly to automate the renumbering of sheets, generate and place schedules, organize views, and enforce drawing standards across hundreds of drawings.
  • Family & content management: Maintaining the firm’s Revit content is foundational to consistency across projects. RAMSA uses SketchPro to get into the background properties of Revit families and standardize parameters across content, a process that typically requires weeks or months of significant manual effort.
  • Training the next generation: RAMSA recruits top talent from around the world. SketchPro's Mentor Mode gives every new hire a personalized Revit tutor calibrated to RAMSA's specific way of working, accelerating onboarding onto the firm's BIM standards.

Results in Practice

The impact has been clear: during active delivery phases, during active delivery phases, designers are reclaiming substantial time that goes directly back into coordination, design refinement, and quality assurance. Teams have more flexibility in how they approach complex deliverables, and project leaders can be more intentional about where their designers' attention goes. The result is a practice that continues to operate with precision and further enhances the kind of care RAMSA is known for.

What's Next

After successful adoption across multiple projects, RAMSA is now rolling SketchPro out firmwide, to every studio and every designer.

At RAMSA, the standard for quality & care remains unchanged. Teams now have more time to focus on the design work that embodies their clients’ highest aspirations.
